  21. Absolutely, Bill; except for the fact that I don't think we should
  22. limit ourselves to "aliens" being the ones in the position of
  23. "Manipulator."  That doesn't necessarily have to be the case.  I refer
  24. you to Dr. Vallee's book, "Messengers of Deception," and specifically
  25. to his Prologue in there.
  26. The Manipulation of consciousness with the potential for creating an
  27. entirely new mythology via the use of symbols is exactly what Vallee
  28. speculates.  Further, like Jung, Vallee speculates that part of this
  29. manipulation includes promoting it within the context of a religious
  30. format -- a "new religion" if you like.   Finally, like you, Vallee
  31. also believes that these "objects" are very, very physical objects; he
  32. does not feel they are simply psychological constructs but rather
  33. physical objects that psychologically manipulate thereby socially
  34. influencing.

  36. This is precisely what happened when the Classical Age collapsed under
  37. the weight of the "Mystical," resulting in the emerging dominance of
  38. thought that we find during the Mideval Age.  As Vallee says in this
  39. book, the Rationalists were too busy laughing at the Irrationalists to
  40. realize that the Irrationalists were beginning to outnumber them!
  41. What the Rationlists SHOULD have done was to understand and enlighten
  42. the Irrational movements, not humiliate and belittle it.  Maybe then
  43. they would have had a chance at surviving it!   History may be
  44. repeating itself today.
